“It was a scary and amazing adrenaline-fueled experience. I remember in the throes of all that there were these women—these nurses helping me... I came out of that experience with knowledge that this is what I want to do. This is the place that is for me. I want to be part of this process in whatever way I can. I think it was mostly the knowledge they had, their ability to come in a crisis and handle it and have a good outcome. The fact that they were there helping me even though I wasn’t accepting the help at the time… I just felt that was it for me.”
