“It was a scary and amazing adrenaline-fueled experience. I remember in the throes of all that there were these women—these nurses helping me... I came out of that experience with knowledge that this is what I want to do. This is the place that is for me. I want to be part of this process in whatever way I can. I think it was mostly the knowledge they had, their ability to come in a crisis and handle it and have a good outcome. The fact that they were there helping me even though I wasn’t accepting the help at the time… I just felt that was it for me.”

Daniela Paul is a CNM who works as a staff midwife at Wendover OBGYN in Greensboro, NC. Her path to midwifery began when she observed the dedication of nurses who cared for her at the birth of her first child.
